Reading the Lights
Cove, from the Sub-Zero and Wolf family, uses indicator lights and flash patterns to report status and faults rather than a numeric display. The number of flashes or the combination of lit indicators maps to a fault area. Your model's documentation gives the exact translation, but in practice the patterns cluster into a few categories: drainage, water supply, the door latch, and the control. Knowing the category tells you where to start.
Cove Indicator Patterns by Area
| Fault Area | What It Usually Means | First Checks |
|---|---|---|
| Drainage | Water not pumping out | Filter, check valve, hose, pump |
| Water supply | Not filling correctly | Supply valve, inlet hose and screen |
| Door latch | Door not registering closed | Latch alignment and switch |
| Control | Board or interface fault | Reset at the breaker; test control |
Drain and Water-Supply Patterns
The most common patterns relate to drainage and water supply, and both start with simple checks. For a drainage pattern, clean the base filter and clear the check valve, hose and sink connection, covered in detail in our Cove drainage guide. For a water-supply pattern, confirm the supply valve is open and check the inlet hose and its screen for debris or a kink. Many patterns clear once the underlying blockage or supply issue is resolved.
Door-Latch and Control Patterns
A door-latch pattern means the machine does not register the door as closed and latched, which can be a simple alignment issue or a failed latch switch. A control pattern may clear with a power reset at the breaker; if it returns, the control board or user interface needs testing. As with any premium machine, a pattern that keeps coming back after the basic checks is a real fault to diagnose, not one to keep clearing.
Pattern Will Not Clear?
If an indicator pattern returns after the filter, supply and door checks, book a repair. See our Cove repair page.
The Bottom Line
Cove speaks through its lights. Match the pattern to a fault area, start with the filter and water supply for the common drainage and fill patterns, check the door latch, and treat a pattern that returns after the basics as a specific, serviceable fault.
